[Luz was actually in the middle of cleaning in the tower when the scream came echoing in her head. It was very lucky that Luz had Tempest with her or it was likely she would have fallen out of the window. Once she got down the tower she was immediately in friend mode.

Dipper? DIPPER?! What's wrong? Are you all right?

She was asking this but was already going for her staff, nudging poor Owlbert awake before he righted himself and allowed Luz passage].

[Fern has twenty-four hours to be human before Usagi's magic runs its course, and while he's still shaky about being comfortable with the changes that have been made to his body he wants to make the most of it. And for someone who was a plant, that means eating food like a regular person!

The downside is that it's a bit more difficult to make a meal for himself when he's down one arm, and when he isn't particularly good at cooking to begin with. So there's a weird human-looking Fern, complete with outrageously long hair, green eyes, down his right arm, and bare feet, just taking over the whole kitchen. He's pulled out a bunch of random ingredients from the fridge and cupboards, a whole mix of stuff since he isn't totally sure what he's even making yet. Still, he's doing his best, trying to cut up some tomato with a regular knife and his stump.]

Happy (late!!!) Birthday! Took a while for the person making your mini Naga to finish it. I hope you like it! I know it might be a bit 'kid' now that you are reaching the mighty age of sixteen. (GO YOU! Take a wild guess when I got going as the Avatar in a big way?) But since you can't hug the real one all the times you might want, I still have hopes for it.

[Shortly after Maul managed to finally get the corruption out of Reaper, he sent Luz a text. That form of communication was most unusual for him in general, given his preference for video, but he was a bit too worn out from the day's events to muster up the energy for a video chat. He lay there on the bed next to Reaper as the older man slept, curled up in a manner that was definitely protective in nature around his mate.]

I thought I would let you know Reaper won't be coming back to the house for at least a few days and possibly longer. He's alright now that most of his corruption has been taken care of but he needs someone to watch over him while he rests.

[Which Reaper probably would have staunchly protested the idea of anyone caring for him had he seen the way Maul was wording the text. But it was clear to Maul that's what needed to happen. His mate still wasn't well and needed him.]

If you could pass the message along to the rest of the members of the household, I would appreciate it.

[Oh boy. That was going to raise some hackles, especially the way people in the house were feeling about Darth Maul right now. Luz, however, was just glad that Reaper was being attended to].

Keep him as long as you have to. Corruption is NOT a fun experience. I'll let everyone know that Reaper's recovering. Keep me updated to when he comes back.

A few days after Korra disappears from Trench, a large package arrives on Luz's doorstep, dropped off by a pair of men. It is a thin crate, well-stuffed with straw, and inside are three things. First, a set of keys. Second, a large object wrapped in Korra's Republic City banner. And, inevitably, third: a letter.

Once the object is unwrapped, it will reveal a stained glass work Korra had worked on in preparation. She had always known that her time might be cut short, one way or another - the Avatars who died peacefully in bed were few and far between, after all, to say nothing of what Trench was like. And she absolutely was not going to leave Luz behind without some sort, some token to remember her by.



Dear Luz,

I'll start with the practical things. If you're reading this, I'm likely gone. Dead, or returned to the sea or whatever it is that happens here. I'm sorry I couldn't stay to see all the great things you'll do, all the adventures you'll have. You'll find the keys to 'Fortress Avatar' in here - the home Asami and I built is yours, to do with as you please. Remember that in an emergency the sub levels have rooms and beds for a few dozen. I also hope the artwork leaves you with fond memories of me. Keep the banner safe to remember me by. Maybe someone will have need of it one day.

But more importantly...

Sprout, I never had a sister. Never knew I wanted a sister. But I'm so glad that I found you, and you became like one to me. You're an amazing person and your talents wow me. You're a true hero, and our friendship means as much to me as family. It's been a strange and twisting path, but I wouldn't change a single step.

I know how hard this place can be. I hope, and pray, that you can keep hold of that wonderful spark that makes you who you are. You've been a light to me in dark times, Luz Noceda, and I hope you never forget how loved you are as a result.

I hope, wherever I am, that I keep your memory with me, and the lessons you taught me. Knowing you has meant so very much, and maybe somehow we will meet again one day. I will hope for it, and hope for all the best for you. May the blessings of the Spirits be yours, every day of your life.

Christmas Gift Delivery!! | 12/25

[Luz has been one of Ochako's closest and perhaps first friends when she arrived in Trench, so the girl actually got a bit of a special treatment this time around (sorry, not sorry). They've been through a lot, sometimes together actually, so it's suffice to say that Luz deserves some fucking nice things.

On the morning of Christmas day, there is going to be a pretty large box waiting for Luz. This one, sadly, couldn't really be gift wrapped due to the size, but that didn't stop Ochako from practically plastering it with stickers and drawing all over it with colored markers and stuff. She even grouped a bunch of stick on bows on the top like a monster. Inside the box are a few comic books about Heroes mostly, but also a few colorful, hardback notebooks, too. They're not blank though!! Inside each one is a hand-written account of a few of the cool, interesting, and sometimes downright terrifying things Ochako's dealt with in her time as a Hero trainee. She keeps out the worst parts, and certain personal information about the people that are in Trench. If she can, details that are...touchy for them are left incredibly vague as well. Ochako is nothing if not subtle, and she knows not to divulge too much, even to a friend.

There's also a bunch of clothes in the box too, under all the notebooks. First and foremost is a Godzilla kigurumi to keep her nice and warm during the harsh cold and snow, and...while they don't match exactly, Ochako couldn't pass up the positively adorable dinosaur slippers when she saw them. The noise I--er...I-I mean, she made. Yes, she. Ahem. Moving on!! Ochako's also included some actualy clothes as well. Ranging from comfy jeans, some nice sweaters and hoodies.

There's also a positively obscene amount of sweets and snacks included, too. Bear cookies to match the Omen that is delivering the package, brownies, cake pops, and some peppermint bark...among many, many more.

There...is a card, technically, but by the time Ochako was done writing in the notebooks, and making everything, and packing it all away...well. She's pooped. Too pooped to write a proper letter. So inside it just says, in somewhat crooked and messy handwriting:]

Merry Christmas, please share the treats with your girlfriend!!

( While Peter isn't one to... Do Holiday Things, there is technically a part of him that reaches out. Not because the ancient demon king of Hell has much interest in holiday celebrations, but Paimon has learned that it's a time when many people Gift Things, and connection with others is of a special importance to his spirit. The energy is right for it, and so, towards the end of the month, he bestows little gifts to people.

Left on Luz's doorstep, wrapped carefully in thin cloth, is a little doll in the likeness of a cat, meticulously hand-crafted with an assortment of random bits and bobbles collected over time.

Set next to the doll, like a calling card, is a leaf — bearing Paimon's sigil delicately burned into it like filigree. )
